Title:
Boot Camp Program - Day 1
Description:
8:30am - 8:40am
Welcome Remarks
8:40am - 10:15am
Elecrocoat Basics: Gary Orosz, PPG
What is electrocoating and how does it work? This session introduces the technology, optimal applications of different types of ecoat, and basic system components and process.
10:15am - 10:30am
Refreshment Break
10:30am - 12:30pm
Pretreatment Basics: Suresh Patel, Chemetall & David George, Henkel
Critical to an efficient and succssful coating operation are the complex stages of pretreatment, which involve cleaning, surface conditioning, conversion coating, rinsing, and post-treatment. Water conservation and wastewater handling are particularly important.
12:30pm - 1:15pm
Lunch
1:15pm - 2:15pm
Equipment Considerations: Rick Cannon, George Koch Sons
A discussion of tank components and systems involved in the coating process, including circulation, rectifiers, ultrafiltration, dehydration, curing, and cooling equipment.
2:15pm - 3:15pm
Material Handling: Chad Andreae, Therma-Tron-X
Conveyor system options and configurations and their effect on floor space requirements are examined, along with maintenance and cost considerations.
3:15pm - 3:30pm
Refreshment Break
3:30pm - 4:30pm
Production Efficiency: Chad Andreae, Therma-Tron-X
Efficient racking to move parts through the stages of an electrocoat system can offer huge economies of scale and cost reductions. Rack design, loading/unloading, and maintenance are the focus of this session.
4:30pm - 5:00pm
